Blueprints

Blueprints is a series of sign works on blue acrylic sheets engraved with icons and prayers offering maps and chiasmic notes to navigate the mysteries of living under structural violence. Using the materiality of connection via institutional wayfinding signs and ethernet cords, Blueprints speak to possible gateways of transcendence beyond the institutionalization that poor Black & Brown people are forced to risk just to find avenues of survival. The motifs of brugmansia, castor, serpents, and the Naguaké Taíno alphabet, among others, speak to what can grow while hidden in the dark: the buried power to dream new realities with the knowledge that any disconnection with the more than human world is an illusion. Signaling to alternate connections the cords are awaiting activation.
